When giving up is good

Usually giving up is seen as a bad thing. As Mr. Steed reminded us on Friday, giving up something less important in your life can be a good thing; it can help us streamline a little and focus on the things in life that are truly important. It can also give us a chance to deny our impulses to just do whatever we want, by intentionally denying ourselves gratification. This year for Lent I'm giving up dessert. What will you give up?

Dessert is too big of a catergory for me to give up for lent so I think I will give up fighting with my brother. Even though whenever we fight it is always his fault. It will be a challenge for me, but I hope to be able to do it.

What I will give up for Lent is pizza. Pizza is something, like Mr. Steed said, something I enjoy but do not need. Pizza is probably not the hardest thing for me to give up, but I'm finding it very hard to live without already.

I gave up chocolate for Lent. It has been a bit hard holding back on the chocolate, but I have managed pretty well.
