Bruce Pearl lost his job as the men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee about a month ago. After breaking some NCAA rules, he lied about what he had done. Many think that had he simply told the truth about his actions, he would still have his job.
What can we learn from Bruce's mistake? What other prominent coach should have learned not to lie to the NCAA? What do you think will happen to this other prominent coach?
(hint: google prominent coach lying NCAA)

We learned to not lie about something did. We shoulld tell the truth or pay the price. Bruce made a mistake and if we do what he did we could make our lives misrable. Another proment coach is Jim Tressel. Jim Tressel was suspended as a football coach.

We can learn that if you just tell the truth upfront, even if it isn't something that you are proud of, that you will atleast know you told the truth. Pete Carroll was another prominent coach who lied to the NCAA. I think this coach will be fired for lying about NCAA violations.

We can learn from Bruce Pearl`s mistake. We can learn that telling the truth is always the right thing to do. Even if we make a mistake, we should admit to it and except the consequences. If we admit that we were wrong, the punishment won`t be as bad as if we lie. Jim Tressel is another prominent coach that should have learned to tell the truth. Tressel withheld some important information. I think that Tressel will get fired for lying. He is an adult who knows he shouldn`t lie.

We can learn a very simple message from Bruce Pearl. This message is don't lie. Telling the truth will almost always have a better outcome, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time. The other prominent coach that should have learned from Bruce not to lie, was Jim Tressel. I think that Jim Tressel will be suspended for multiple games, but not fired. Jim witheld important information, and then lied about knowing this.

We can learn many things from Bruce's mistake. Often times, people hate it when people lie about their mistakes, more than they hate the actual mistakes. An example of this is with Bruce Pearl. Often times, telling the truth about something, even if that something is bad, will help you out more. Some people will lesson th3e punishment you recive for your crime, if you tell the truth. Even if they don't, you at least can fell better about yourself, knowing that you told the truth. Another prominent coach that lied to the NCAA was Pete Carroll about violations. I think that he will be fired like Bruce Pearl, because if they didn't, it wouldn't be fair to Bruce Pearl.

something we can learn from this mistake is to never lie because its bad and if you lie about somethingyou should get punnished even if it cost you your job.

We can learn about Bruce's mistake is not to lie if you do something against the rules. I think that Jim Tressel should have learned not to lie to the NCAA. I think that Jim will be fired because he accepted improper benefits from a tattoo parlor owner and lied about it so he could keep his players on the field.

I think he will be disqulafied and not be able to play in any games or the ncaa will fire him.

i think that he should be fired from the NCAA and shouldnt be able to coach in the NCAA anymore
I think that he will get fired because if you lie to the ncaa and they figure out that you were lying you will probroly get fired.
I think that he could lose his job along with Bruce. I think it is wrong to lie to the NCAA. because u can get in a lot of trouble. I would not be suprised if he lost his job.
We can learn that no matter what the consequence it will always be better to tell the truth. We can learn this from Bruce's mistake because if he told the truth he would have had a better chance at keeping his job. Another prominent coach that lied to the NCAA was Jim Tressel, an Ohio State coach who allowed ineligible players on the field. I think Jim Tressel will probably lose his job because the article I read said this could be the end of Jim Tressel's position at Ohio State College.

We can learn from bruces mistake to not lie or you will be humilliated imbarressed and get in alot of trouble. One other coach that lied is Jim tressel he will probally be suspended.

What we can learn from his mistake is, just tell the truth. It makes it easier if you just tell the truth. In the end if you lie, it doesn't turn out as well as if you tell the truth.
Kate Preston Period 2
We can learn from Bruce's mistake that honesty is the best policy. If we tell the truth people will forgive you faster than when you lie. Jim Tressel also should have learned not to lie to the NCAA. I think that Jim Tressel will be fired and not allowed to coach another football team.

What I think that we can learn from Bruce's mistake is that when we tell the truth then nothing bad will happen, but if you lie then there will be consequences. What the other coach should have learned is that if he ever lies to the NCAA, he knows there will be consequences. What I think will happen to this other coach is that he will try hard and tell the truth to keep his job, no matter how hard it is to tell the truth he should anyway.

Something that we could learn from Bruce Pearl is that if we lie things will only turn out worse. Tressel is the other coach that lies. I think that Tressel is or in my opinion should lose his job because one he lied and two it would not be fair to Pearl because he got kicked off.

we can learn that if we lie it will come back to get us back. Another coach would be Jim fossil Ohio state football coach. He will be fired from the Ohio state coaches.

I can learn that lieing at work or on a work application or to anyone else is not a good idea.
Ohio State football coach, Jim Tressel also lied. I think that he should be suspended from his job.

We can learn from Bruce Pearl's mistacke is not to lie. We can get in trouble if we lie. We can loose jobs, friendships and trust and many other things. The other lying coach in the NCAA is Jim Tressel. I think that he will also loose his job because he also lied at the NCAA. Everyone can learn from Bruce's mistake because he lied and now he is jobless wich reminds me of the boy who cried wolf he also lied but instead he was eaten by a wolf.

I think we can learn from this coaches mistake by not lieing like he did.
We can learn if you make a mistake don't lie about it, admit your mistake. Don't try to cover it up. The other Prominent coach that lost his job was Ben Tressel. This coach lost his job as well as Bruce Pearl. They both lied to the NCCA.
I think we can learn from Bruce's mistake by at first dont break the rules and just tell the truth. The other coach that did the same thing will probably get the same punishments as Bruce did.
Alexie T. Period 2
Some thinks that we can learn from his crime is that honesty is the way to play today. From lying he didnt gain anything but only lost his job. I think that this coach will never have a professional coaching job but he will probably end up coaching a pick-up,but it wont matter because he's rich so he wont need a job.

I think that we can learn to be honest because even if we do something wrong, if we tell the truth it will help us and other people.Ohio State coach Jim Tressel should not have lied about what he did. I think this coach will soon be fired.

Jim Tressel also lied to the NCAA. Jim does not know if he is going to lose his job yet. We can learn that there big consequences when you tell a big lie.

Bruce Pearl deserved to be fired even thoguh he could be a good coach and say good things his words probaly did not match his actions. Honesty is the best way of life instead of lying and denying it. It is one thing to lie and confess and its another to lie and deny. This other man that also lied was named Jim Tressel. He also lied and I think his job wil soon be out of his reach. Sometimes words arent enough to judge a person.

We can learn a lot from Bruce Pearl's mistake. Of course we can learn not to make inappropriate recruitment contacts, but more importantly we can learn not to lie, lying will just lead to more lies, which will lead to a lot more trouble then if we had just told the truth in the first place. I know it can be hard to admit our mistakes and tell the truth, but we just have to suck it up and do it - for the good of everybody. Another prominent coach that should have learned not to lie to the NCAA is Jim Tressel. It seems most likely that like Bruce Pearl, Jim Tressel will be eventually fired from his position as a Ohio State football coach.

We can learn many things from Bruce’s mistake. We can learn that honesty is very important, and bad things will can happen to you when you lie. We can also learn that lying is worse than telling the truth, even if it is something that you are not proud of. Another prominent coach that should have learned not to lie in the NCAA was Pete Carroll. I think Pete Carroll will also get fired because he also lied and he should get punished for it. It would also be unfair to Bruce Pearl if Pete didn't get fired for lying because Pearl lost his job.

I think we can learn that if you just tell the truth in the first place then it might help you later on and the consequences might be less because you told the truth. You should admit that you did something wrong and that, it was a misstake. I think you apologize and tell what the truth is instead of lying about it all. I also think you should just tell the truth because it the right thing to do. Jim Tressel is the other coach that has lied to the NCAA. I think he will lose his job because he was dishonest and his boss will not know when he can believe and trust him and other teams won't either. Noah Briggs Period 5
The truth is the best thing to say in a situation no matter what the punishment is, it is always better to tell the truth because if somebody finds out that you lied then the punishment will be worse. That is one thing we can learn from Bruce's mistake.
We can learn that if you do something wrong you should take responsibilityfor your actions. Another NCAA coach that should not have lied is Jim Tressel. I think he will loose his job also. He should have taken responsibilityand amitted that what he did was wrong.

What we can learn about coach Pearl's mistake is that you should always tell the truth. He made a big mistake that he did not do the right thing by lying, so he lost his job. Another coach that lied was Jim Tressel. I think that this coach suffered the same consequence as Pearl, being fired.
Christian Sepp Period 2
We learn that if you lie bad things can happen, so don't lie. Another coach that should have not lied to the NCAA was Jim Tressel. he lied about holding information from Ohio state. I think Jim will be fired from head coach because he lied about having information.
We can learn that honesty is very important because even if we get punished for what we do if we lie and get caught then the punishment will proably be worse. Pete Carroll was another coach that lied in NCAA. I think this coach should and will be fired because he lied to NCAA. I think coaches should sometimes step back and just relax because winning a game can't be important all the time.
Ciara M. 5
I think we learned that doing the wrong thing in the first place is a bad decision, but by trying to cover up the thing you did wrong will only make matters worse. By breaking the rules in the first place he probably was going to get suspended, but by then continuing to lie, even though they knew the truth he only dug himself a deeper hole which unfortunately he cannot climb out of. He has now lost his job which I am sure he regrets, so by having this knowledge it would be wise to not do the same... so I guess we learned that too! Another prominent NCAA coach who recently lie to the NCAA was Jim Tressel. He knowingly lied to cover up a mistake his team made, however I do not believe he is getting fired, I believe he is suspended for the first five games, just like the five players involved.

We can learn an important lesson from Bruce's mistake. We have been shown yet again that it is never okay to lie. It doesn’t matter if you are proud of your actions or ashamed by them, you have to tell the truth. If you lie your punishment will increase and people will lose some of their respect for you. One prominent coach who should have learned not to lie to the NCAA is Jim Tressel, the football coach from Ohio State who lied to keep some of his players on the field. I think that he will get fired because the NCAA already has had someone else lie and they don't want another incident. By firing Jim they would set an example that liars get punished.
Alex G. Period 2
Bruce Pearl, a Tennessee basketball coach did a horrible thing, he lied. What we can learn from Bruce’s mistake is just to tell the truth. Telling the truth is a lot simpler than lying. Telling the truth can save people a lot of trouble, like in Bruce’s case, it can save people from getting fired. Another prominent coach that should have learned not to lie to the NCAA is Ohio State football coach, Jim Tressel. I think Jim Tressel will also be fired so he can learn from his consequences, and learn not to lie.

From Pearl’s mistake, we can learn the most of the time, even if you do something bad, if you’re honest, the punishment might be as bad. Another prominent coach that should have been honest is Jim Tressel, who lied about NCAA violations. He was suspended, and that incident will probably follow him the rest of his life.
Sean Mebust, Per 3
A very important lesson is learned from Bruce Pearl's mistake. We learn that telling the truth in the first place, is better than lying and trying to cover it up. We should accept the consequences for the mistakes we make in life. Another coach that lied was Jim Tressel of Ohio State. I think that because he lied,he lost the trust of his employers. This caused him to be perceived as untrustworthy by everyone. Unfortunately, I think that it will be hard for him to find future work in the NCAA or any coaching job for that matter.
Colin Wilcox per.5
The things we can learn from Bruce’s mistake are that lying at first can back fire, and just never lie in general. Another Prominent coach that should have learned not to lie to the NCAA is Jim Tressel. Jim Tressel was a 10 year coach for Ohio State football. The NCAA accused Jim Tressel with withholding and lying to keep the Buckeyes players on the field who accepted improper benefits from that tattoo shop. I think they will fire Jim Tressel because he hid bunches of information from his superiors for more than half a year. So they should start off fresh and monitor the next coach.

What we can learn from Bruce Pearl's mistake is that being honest is the best thing to do when you do something wrong. We can learn many things from Bruce Pearl's mistake. We can learn that it is important to tell the truth. It will always be the right thing to do. Even if we make a mistake, we should speak up and accept what will happen. If we admit our mistake, the punishment wouldn't be as bad. Lies would only make things worse. Jim Tressel is another prominent coach. He too, should've known to speak the truth. Tressel withheld some important information. We can learn that if you don't lie about something stupid you have done you we not be as punished. If you lie your regular punishment will be doubled and in Bruce Pearl's case he was fired. We learned from Bruce Pearlman that it's better off just telling the truth rather than lying about something that you have done. If you tell the truth you are looked at as a good person and your more likely to get of with less of a punishment. Another lying coach in the NCAA is Tressel. Treesel withheld evidence from the NCAA. I think Trussel should loss his job just like Bruce.
