Music Class

I hope you enjoyed class on Friday even though we didn't talk about English at all. For a little bonus, respond with a stanza or two from one of your favorite songs. After the lyrics, tell the rhyme scheme, the theme, and how many stars you would give out of 5 on the "making sense" scale. For ten bonus points, answer the following correctly: why is it easier to maintain meter in a song than in a poem? For help, rewatch "Rise", and compare with "Casey at the Bat".

One of my favorite songs is Let it Rock by Kevin Rudolf ft. Lil Wayne. Here's the refrain.

Because when I arrive
I I bring the fire
Make you come alive
I can take you higher
What this is, forgot?
I must now remind you
Let it rock let it rock let it rock

The rhyme scheme is ABAB (in the song, he makes you sound like yuh to rhyme with higher). I don't understand the song at all. It gets maybe a half star for sense.

In a song, you can make the lines have the same chords or notes reapeatedly, but change the words. In a poem, you have to pick the exact right words with the right amount of syllables.

P.S. Sean Singletary's averaging 2.4 a game, so he's definetely the next MJ.

It is most likely easier because in a song a composer can sing a word with more or less syllables. In a poem you can't do that.

One of my favorite songs is called "We Made it" It goes "Together we made it, we made it even though we had are backs up against the wall, forever we wait it, and they told us that we were never going to get some." The rhyme theme is A.B.A.C and I would get a five star for making sence because it talks about how two football players are trying to get on a teem but first they get rejected and on the second teem they finaly get on one. So, they made it even though they had a tough time getting there. It is harder to maintain a meter in a song than a poem because the song doesn't have to make sence but the poem usually does have to make sence.

One of my favorite artists is John Mayor. In his song "Waitin on the World to Change", he repeats this line over and over again. The rhyme scheme is AAB(or AABB because waitin on the world to change is kinda broken up into 2 parts). The theme of this song is going green and getting rid of unfair laws and rules from the world such as racism. On the making sense scale, I would give this song 5 stars because it pretty much tells you right out what the message is. I think it is easier to maintain meter in a song rather than a poem because you can speed up and slow down because of rythem without sounding funny but if you speed up and slow down with a poem, it will sound really odd.

One of my favorite songs is "Forever" by Chris Brown

"All you gotta do is watch me,
Look what I can do with my feet.
Baby, feel the beat inside time.
If only you could take the front seat.
Just need you to trust me"

One of my favorite songs right now is "Better" by Guns'N Roses. It has an AABB rhyme scheme. It has a consistent rhyme scheme too. I think it is easier to maintain your rhyme scheme in a song than in poetry becuase you can make your lines as long as you want, but in poetry it sounds better when you keep the same amount of syllables in each line.

One of my favorite songs is called One Loaf Of Bread, by Damain Marley. The rhyme scheme is ABAB. The refrain is

Mankind cannot fall ressitance anymore
Still there is something for you
Written in the book of life we shall live forever more
Still there is somethig for you

The words actually kinda repeats at the end because anymore and more.

One of my favorite songs is called "All I ever wanted" and it is by a new and upcoming country singer named Chuck Wicks. It starts like this...

Girl you got me going
Yeah, I think you know it
Oh I'm ready for this ride
So come on, take my hand cause
only you, you understand how to
kick this feeling into drive all night with me. Sing my favorite songs to sleep
under the stars on the foot of my car its all i ever wanted. All i ever wanted was you
