Leadership
There are many different styles that successful leaders adopt. Some demand perfection from their teammates; others are more supportive and encouraging. Some effective leaders are cool-headed, never showing their emotions; others get fired up and try to spread the fire to those around them. Some lead quietly with their example, while others use inspiring speeches to motivate those around them.
Long John Silver and Captain Smollett had very different leadership styles. You could argue that Smollett had a better supporting cast; because of the other members of his 'team' Silver was doomed to be a great leader who never achieved the pinnacle of success, like Dan Marino of the Dolphins. Which leader would you most want to lead your team? If you were losing in the last moments of a game, whom do you think could turn things around and pull victory from the jaws of defeat?

Actually, I think that I would want Long John Silver for my leader only if he wasn't a pirate. Long John Silve really trusted Jim by giving him a double barrel gun. Maybe that is why Jim didn't shoot him, because he trusted him and thought that he wouldn't shoot. Captain Smollett is all tight up and not showing any care for the people on his team while Long John Silver if he was on the good side, he would make sure that everyone was safe.

This is a hard desicion to make for me, but I would think that Dan Marino and Long John Silver would be better leaders than Captain Smollett. Eventhough Captain Smollett was good when he pretended he knew about Ben Gunn killing some of the mutineers. Long John Silver and Dan Marino would always have something special up their sleeve. I would have to choose Dan Marino as a leader that I would want because eventhough he did not have the best wide recievers or runningbacks around him he still made is team a team that your nervous about playing.

Clemson is awesome
Even though he was dragged down by the people aroung him, Silver remained a fantastic leader. I still think that captain Smollett was an overall better leader. He knew what to do, when to do it, and used improvisation such as when Silver told him about the 'widders' and he knew nothing about it but didn't just blab it out like the Squire would do, he thought things through and made sure he wouldn't give away any info. Also, in though times he seems like the kind of guy who would be like Ernest Shackelton who could keep his men going, even if the where on the brink of giving up hope. Julian said that Silver and Marino would always have something up their sleevs. Why not Smollett? Hasn't he proved how calm he can be under pressure? He could definatly pull something out of his sleeve if he needed to.

I would rather have Long John b/c he has the brains. I think smart leaders are better than leaders who get pumped and fire up their team or whatever group it is because smart leaders can guide you through whatever you are doing. They may not be the strongest, fastest, ect. but they can outsmart just about anyone.
