Anderson Cooper says that dealing with the pirates can be tricky because they can be unpredictable, unreliable, confrontational, and they generally are consuming a mind-altering substance. Has this changed much since the days of Long John Silver?

This has not changed because Long John Silver was definately also tricky. I think it is horrible that they would not give the captain back when we gave their pirate back.
Besides the modern things such as mind altering drugs, these pirates are about the same as the ones in Treasure Island, although, LJS was willing to negotiate with Jim and company, but under different circumstances because they LJS pirates have the upper hand while the modern pirates do not. Logan
